Make It Make Sense: The Customer Who Got the Item, the Refund, and the Attitude

On today’s episode of make it make sense … Customer started a return as changed mind on July 22. On August 12 he messages me.

“I believe USPS screwed up again. They sent the blades back to me. My refund has already been issued. I currently have the package. I can take it back to the post office or wait for another label from eBay … just let me know how you want to proceed.”

I look at my return thinking I hope I didn’t give him a refund before I got the item back. I didn’t. So I messaged him back.

“I don’t show on my end where the refund has been issued. You can reship and once we receive it we will refund. Not sure what is going on.”

That apparently ticked him off and he sends me another message with an image of the refund. I’m assuming he either ordered and returned something else and this is his refund from that OR he cancelled an eBay order and this is his refund from that. The order he placed with me was $36.97 + shipping. His refund was $33.32. Obviously not from me.

“Listen buddy I was trying to to be nice to you. I got the refund . I got the package. Now you go deal with eBay. Foh”

I just left it alone. No need to argue with him. THEN, on August 22, eBay puts the case on hold to investigate. They refund him at their expense because the package was ‘lost’. It wasn’t lost. It went back to him. He has the package. And the refund from eBay. MAKE THAT MAKE SENSE. When a package is lost after I ship it, I have to FILE A FREAKING CLAIM with the post office and give the customer a refund.
